Your university has thousands of cheerleaders on the sidelines.

Alumni are by far your biggest supporters, and with the right outreach and engagement strategies you can tap into that “fan base” to connect with potential research partners, angel and VC investors, local business connections, and start-up support. Skilled and experienced alumni can be crucial not only to faculty and student founders through mentoring and networking, but as that all-important link for introductions to the right people at the right time to move innovations forward.

But too many TTOs are left siloed away from these key potential contacts and supporters. That’s why it’s so important to strike up a solid relationship with your alumni relations department. They are best equipped to capture the attention of alumni, provide key intelligence on their interests, and make critical connections that could be vital to your commercialization projects and your start-up founders.

We’ve teamed up with members of Rutgers University’s Innovation Ventures and its Corporate Engagement Center to bring you this insightful program.

This session will describe successful tactics to use in collaborating with your alumni relations partners to identify successful alumni in key positions to assist with your funding, start-up support, mentoring, and corporate outreach. By evolving traditional methods such as alumni events to showcase the university and its research commercialization efforts, your alumni relations partners can help to identify high-level alums in corporations and elsewhere who can help foster innovation opportunities, from start-ups and scale-ups to research partnerships and licensing.

Our team of presenters will share their experiences and lessons learned in their successful efforts to leverage alumni relations and strengthen the opportunities for collaboration within the Rutgers Innovation Ventures team.
